Betsey Johnson Teams up with The Plaza Hotel to Design the New Eloise Suite

Photo courtesy of The Plaza Hotel

Designer Betsey Johnson has teamed up with The Plaza Hotel in New York City to design the new Eloise Suite, based on the beloved fictional character Eloise. This chic new suite features pink-striped walls, chandeliers, neon lighting and so much more. Eloise's suite is located on the 18th floor and consists of not one, but two rooms. Everything about this suite is detailed to perfection to fit the six-year-old character, Eloise. The Palm Court restaurant in the Plaza Hotel is also featuring a special addition to their menu, "Eloise Tea". The new menu items will be comprised of childhood favorites such as, miniature grilled cheese, organic PB&J sandwiches, scones, cupcakes, cookies and more! Rates for the new Eloise Suite start at $995/night and include a monogrammed bathrobe, a $100 gift card to the Eloise shop (located downstairs), an Eloise camera (to document all the fun, of course!), a framed photo of you inside the suite and an Eloise book. Guests also have the option to book the adjourning suite, the "Edwardian Suite," which includes both champagne and truffles and starts at $2045/night and featured a two-bedroom option. The Eloise Ambassador will assist all guests in booking reservations and can be contacted via e-mail at: eloiseattheplaza@fairmont.com.

Hand-painted totes by Francesca Joy Palm Beach

When artist/designer Elise Francesca Fargnoli first began painting, she always had fashion in mind: Would this design look good on a dress, a bikini, shorts, or a skirt? Or even a pillow? Table linens? There was something about every design, color, and every pattern that was developed- it was meant for fashion, but more significantly, meant to be shared and worn. Much like the canvas Elise paints on, the canvas tote bag seemed meant to be painted on. The idea came from a friend who was bored with her plain tote bags, which she, like many others for years, has used for everything from groceries to beach accessories. Fans of Elise's paintings wanted more than just art work in their homes and on their walls - they wanted to wear it.

Elise liked the idea of painting on the bag - as a tote bag is meant to be taken everywhere, and used well for years on end. Though the design is delicate and hand-painted with special textile paint, the bag isn't meant to be treated like that - it is meant to follow the excitement and the changing patterns of your own life. So, Francesca Joy was born - with offices in the heart of Palm Beach, Florida, and the rural, green hills of Pomfret, Connecticut. Elise founded the company in January of 2010 with Carolyn Roy, (Carolyn Roy Interiors) an interior designer from Palm Beach. Roy's work has been noted in Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, and House and Garden. She, too, loved everything - color, design, and couture. They felt joining forces would bring a new twist to the design, fashion, and art world. Besides being a lifestyle collection, FJ is also has a home decor line. This company is owned by Elise Francesca Fargnoli, Rhonda Fargnoli, Alexandra R. Picerne, and Carolyn Roy. FJ is proud to say all items are made in the USA.

Jessica Ricci Jewelry Featured “Deal Spotter” on iVillage

Jessica Ricci Jewelry Featured “Deal Spotter” on iVillage: Jewelry designer Jessica Ricci takes inspiration from her travels to create gorgeous rings, earrings, necklaces and cuffs. And we have to say, we love each and every piece!

This gold vermeil French Lace Cuff Bracelet ($300, now comes out to $180 with the discount, at Jessica Ricci Jewelry) was inspired by 200-year-old linens found in a Parisian market and this cute Coffee Bean Necklace (originally $200, now $120 using the discount code, at Jessica Ricci Jewelry) was crafted as a reminder of a recent trip to Tanzania where coffee is their largest export. So unexpectedly elegant, right? And like most of her pieces, it also comes in super affordable sterling silver for just $36 after the discount.

Our favorite piece though has to be this pair of Aquamarine Dangling Earrings (pictured, originally $350, now comes out to $210 using the coupon code, at Jessica Ricci Jewelry) which gives us the perfect excuse to throw our hair into a bun and go.

Fashion Week 2010 Recap

What an invigorating week in New York City…the weather was heavenly, fashionable people were buzzing about the city and many great dinners, of course. With behind the scenes tours at The Knot and Women’s Health magazines and fabulous shows by Catherine Malandrino, Luca Luca and Tibi…this girl was in heaven. Not to mention I started the week off with meeting one of my faves, Rachel Zoe at the Piperlime event and ended with meeting Tory Burch at her Tory Burch Foundation’s event! For anyone that hasn’t been to Fashion’s Night Out it is worth a trip to the city. It is like fashion Madri Gras! Also got to meet up with my favorite girls from Hunter Dixon Clothing Line. I’ve blogged about them before but if you haven’t seen their line check it out at www.hunterdixon.com. So happy to also meet up with many of my friends who are still in the city and try some new restaurants that I haven’t been to…Felice, Kenmare, Pulino’s, etc. Can’t wait to be back in October!

A décor and dining treat - Mister Milano - new to Palm Beach Gardens

We stumbled upon Mister Milano when invited to see Urban Gypsy play. With a chic black and white color palette and chandeliers, mirrors and plush banquettes, the décor is a nice surprise. There is also live entertainment nightly in the center of the restaurant. The menu is extensive and focuses on traditional and new Italian recipes, such as Risotto with green apple and sparkling Carlizze, Spaghetti Carbonara, Green Gnocchetti with gorgonzola and walnuts, Branzino al sale marino and a Filet Mignon with a Barolo wine sauce.

Mister Milano is open for dinner nightly, but will eventually serve breakfast and lunch daily.

For a limited time, visit South Florida Dines for a dining discount certificate.

DIY – How to Make a Hanging Flower Pomander

I saw these flowers at the Art and Antique Fair at the Palm Beach Convention Center. I kept it in my photo files to recreate at a later date. I love the bright colors and the use of a single flower type. These can be made with any flower, not just roses, and you can also hang them. Below are directions to create your own flower pomanders for a special occasion.

Things You'll Need:

  • Flowers (daisies, carnations, roses, etc.)
  • Oasis floral foam spheres
  • Chicken wire
  • 20-Gauge wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Scissors
  • Water
  • Large Bowl
  • Ribbon (grosgrain, satin or ribbon of your choice- just ensure it's strong enough to support the ball)
1) Purchase floral foam balls in the size of your choice (available at any floral supply store or online), flowers (sturdy flowers so they don't get crushed) and wire.

2) To prepare the ball for hanging, wrap the chicken wire around the diameter of the ball, then criss-cross it to divide the ball into quarters. Twist the ends of the wire into a small loop (you'll slip the ribbon through this loop later to hang the ball). If you would prefer to use the balls as centerpieces or as a non-hanging display, skip this step.

3) Soak the foam in water.

4) Trim the stems of the flowers at an angle, leaving an inch or so beneath the head.

5) Insert flowers. If the stems of your chosen flowers are strong enough, you can insert them into the ball as is. If you have trouble with this, use the 20-gauge wire to assist in the insertion. Cut it into 4-inch pieces, fold them in half and insert both ends through the blossoms. Then, insert the wired flowers into the balls. Start by inserting flowers in a straight line, creating a ring around the ball. Then cover each half of the ball with flowers, overlapping the petals slightly and making sure to fill in all gaps.

6) Slip ribbon through the loop you created at the top of the ball. You an tie a pretty bow, or if you prefer a cleaner look, tie the ends of the ribbon into a strong knot and use the wire to tuck the ribbon into the top of the ball and out of sight.

7) Alternatives: You can choose to use silk flowers instead. If you do go this route, you can use styrofoam balls and skip the soaking. You can also use hot glue to help secure the fake flowers.

Tips from ehow.

"A Little Birdie Told Me" Inspired Baby Reveal Theme

Inspired by the familiar saying, "A little birdie told me," we added "It's a ?" to the invite for the recent baby reveal theme. A green and pink gender neutral custom invite was created. Once we found out it was a girl, we designed the pink and natural bird tablescape with letters to spell G-I-R-L from Anthropologie, bird decor and cages from Michael's. Moss and rattan chargers, rented from Panache Party Rental added to the natural texture of the table. The invite was turned into a placecard design and attached to the bird nests with pink Jordan Almonds as eggs and bird feeders. The Nest Egg Scented Soap was the party favor for the ladies. Opi "It's a girl" nail polish was given to the girls who guessed it is a girl. Cupcakes with toasted coconut to look like a nest with pink birdies were made by Southern Belle's Cakery.
