Kids’ Dreams Mentioned in the Palm Beach Daily News

KIDS’ DREAMS DONATED $2,500 TO 3RD ANNUAL VERY SPECIAL SCIENCE FAIR AT THE PALM BEACH ZOO

April 7, 2011 – Kids’ Dreams, founded by Patricia Lebow and late husband Alan Lebow, donated $2,500 for more than 380 students with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder to participate in the 3rd Annual Very Special Science Fair at the Palm Beach Zoo on April 5th and 6th. Kids’ Dreams in partnership with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office provide economically disadvantaged youth with academic support and extracurricular experiences in conjunction with mentoring by law enforcement.

The purpose of the Very Special Science Fair is to enable students with significant disabilities the opportunity to participate in scientific inquiry and discovery. Each classroom developed a science project which was displayed at the Palm Beach Zoo’s facility.

"Today was a very special day for Kids' Dreams to have multiple board members present at the Zoo and witness the smiling faces of more than 300 children participating in a special science fair that came about as a result of our sponsorship of title one children. Our mission is fulfilled with all these children at the zoo in an educational program,” said Lebow, Managing Partner at Broad and Cassel. “I am very thankful that my husband inspired me to move forward with a tiny idea which has become a big reality thanks to the donations of many of my friends and supporters in the community."

Since its inception 3 years ago, The Very Special Science Fair has tripled in the number of classrooms participating in this event. Students are proud of the hard work they’ve generated in developing their science projects and thrilled at seeing them displayed at the Zoo’s Pavilion. Participants thoroughly enjoy the special wildlife presentations given by Palm Beach Zoo staff, watching all the animals in their habitats, and picnicking under the shade of many trees.
