B. Inspired by C. Wonder

On my recent trip to New York I had to stop by the new store, C. Wonder in Soho. Even on a rainy day, this bright and poppy store is sure to cheer you up.

From clothing and accessories to home goods, there is something for everyone. A few of my favorites were the tweed jacket, Ikat dinnerware and C-bit loafers. Also as a sucker for monogramming, I loved the monogrammed section that included everything from towels and totes to scarves and sweaters. A must-see next time you’re in New York. If not you can visit the website at www.cwonder.com

Fall Festival with friends and family with goodies from Michael’s and Swoozie’s

My sister and her husband hosted our 2nd Annual Fall Festival…a kick off to the holiday season. It was a potluck dinner with our friends and they brought everything from fried turkey and stuffing to sweet potato casserole and turkey cake pops. I helped my sister with the table dĂ©cor and got burlap tablecloths and brown hemstitch napkins from one of my favorite designers at VM Flowers and gold chiavari chairs from Premier Party Rental. I bought orange textured ribbon, mercury glass votives and the glittery pine cone and pear garland from Michael’s. I spray painted the green and purple mummies’ little monster pumpkins gold. I turned stickers from Swoozie’s into hang tags and adorable turkey placecards for the food descriptions. I used Pottery Barn candlesticks and candles from around my sister’s house. Can’t wait for the holiday season!

Hot spots in Houston BHLDN and Tiny Boxwoods

This past weekend I was in Houston for a wedding and was excited to check out Anthropologie's newest store BHLDN with friend and fellow event planner, Kristin from Bellafare. After our GPS led us to the wrong destination...a culd-a-sac in a neighborhood...we finally found the store and it was even more than I anticipated. There were so many unique elements from wedding dresses, shoes, headpieces and jewelry to decor details, including vintage plates and glasses turned into pedestals, laser cut paper napkin rings and wooden pegged leg placeholders. We also came across the cutest brunch place ever. Sharing the lawn with a garden store, Tiny Boxwoods' looks like a page in a magazine. We liked it so much we went two days in a row. The large chalkboard menu changed slightly from day to day but had amazing brunch cocktails like the white wine mojito and out of this world sandwiches, breakfast pizzas, heavenly biscuits and chocolate chip cookies. If you're ever in the area it is worth the stop. And of course I made a stop to The Galleria...everything is bigger in Texas.

Coastal Christmas Featured in the Party Dress Mazagine

For Coastal Christmas I wanted to use a traditional color but incorporate sea fans and sea urchins in the shape of Christmas trees. The sea urchin trees from Beautiful Details by the Seashore on Etsy and sea fans from Wonders of the Sea were the perfect start. I had a custom graphic created of a wreath with Christmas ornaments and assorted shells for the invitation and menu card. The tablescape included silver chargers from Pier 1, assorted champagne and martini glasses from Crate and Barrel, silver ornaments from Martha Stewart at Macy’s, crystal votives from Z Gallerie, candlesticks, monogrammed napkins and napkin rings from Pottery Barn. The create your own Berry Sparkle Bar consisted of a premade mixer in a punch bowl with raspberries and rosemary to garnish atop a mirror turned on its back. To enhance the sea fans I spray painted them red and to give the coral a dressier feel, I spray painted it with metallic silver spray paint. Junior League Tea Through The Ages Recap

Katherine Lande and I had the pleasure to host a table and speak at the Junior League event “Tea Through the Ages.” We thought it would be fun to combine my event design background and Katherine’s fashion expertise to create a look from runway to tabletop. We were inspired by Chanel’s Spring 2012 collection.

We used Nuage Design’s clear confetti paillettes as the foundation of the table. It was perfectly in line with the under the sea, mother of pearl, iridescent feel of their Spring 2012 collection. Inspired by Chanel’s beaded pearl bodice we used faux pearl bracelets from Sequin NY as napkin rings. The sea foam green napkins and teacups were heirlooms from Katherine’s family and tied in with the sea foam green in the collection. The graphic black and white dress was interpreted in the graphic black & white tray from T is for Table. Shades of grey, black and tan flower pom poms were attached to the back of the chairs from BLHND. The silver was from the models shoes and we interpreted that into the centerpiece of silver branches with iconic Chanel faux pearls strung and interspersed Camellia flowers (they were out of season so we replaced with gardenias)provided by FlowerMart. Each guest received a gift bag with Chanel Samples from Saks Fifth Avenue Palm Beach Gardens.
